When applying to adopt a child, there are certain requirements that must be met. You must be:- - 25 years old and above and at least 21 years older than thechild*;
- a Singapore resident for more than 6 months; and
- pass the investigations made by a Ministry of CommunityDevelopment ("MCD") officer.
*The Court may not require this, for example when there is ajoint application by a married couple. The child: - must not be married
- must be under the age of 21 years and
- need not be Singaporean nor resident in Singapore.
