If you just want to change your name, you will need to make an appointment with a lawyer to prepare and witness a legal document called a Deed Poll.
Q: Why do I need a lawyer for this?
A lawyer won't be needed if you're inserting your baptism name, religious name or marriage name.
However, if you are just changing your name, you will need a lawyer to prepare and witness a Deed Poll. The Singapore Immigration & Registration (SIR) office will only accept Deed Polls that are witnessed by a lawyer.
Charges for doing up a Deed Poll with a lawyer usually comes up to about $100.
