Pleading guilty means that you admit fully and unconditionallyto the offence. The prosecuting officer will read out the statement of facts relating to your charge and any previousconvictions (criminal records) you may have. Your previousconvictions are used to determine the sentence. Your plea of guiltwill not be accepted unless you admit to the statement of factsand confirm any previous convictions.

When an accused pleads guilty to certain charges, uponverifying his admission in principle to the statement of facts,some cases will have to be transferred forthwith to theCentralised Sentencing Court (Court 24) for sentencing. Otherswill be dealt with in Court 26 or Court 23 immediately.
