Q: How long do I have to pay my wife maintenance?

Depending on the particular circumstances, maintenance can be ordered for as long as your wife is seeking education, training, or other marketable job skills so that she can find a job and become self-supportive.

If your wife is quite elderly or suffers from a medical problem that prevents her from getting a job, maintenance can be "permanent".

However, maintenance usually stops upon her death or upon her remarriage.
