WWLegal.com is for lawyers and people looking for lawyers
WWLegal.com, Singapore's first Application Service Provider
(ASP) for the legal sector, was launched yesterday.
The new portal, which has the support of nearly 100 of
Singapore's law firms, is for lawyers and people looking for
lawyers and provides tools to assist law firms in managing their
case files and enable them to conduct e-commerce transactions.
"We believe we are the first first ASP for the legal
profession here, offering lawyers a suite of Web-enabled legal
tools," said Ong Ying Ping, one of the portal's founders and
its director of content development and marketing.
"IDA (the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore) is
pleased to note the efforts of WWLegal.com in doing this. Such
efforts are in line with IDA's initiatives in catalysing the
digital transformation of Singapore's economy," observed
IDA's assistant chief executive of online development, Kaizad
Heerjee.
Its founders say that WWLegal.com intends to go beyond
providing software for law firms and its strategy includes
creating a seamless network of services and public information
connecting lawyers, clients, and government organisations.
Online lawyers registered with WWLegal.com cover the spectrum
of civil and criminal litigation, corporate, commercial, family
and property matters.
"There is an 'intelligent matching system' for users to
find the lawyer with the most appropriate skills for their
case," a press release issued by WWLegal.com said.
"For the casual surfer, WWLegal.com offers chatrooms for
both lawyers and the public, free downloads, legal information,
latest reports on legal news and even a trivia page."
"For the public, we aim to be the first place they turn
to, to connect them with the legal help they need, or a place for
them to visit and learn more about their rights."
"A lot of people end up in court because they weren't sure
of their rights, or they left things too late. with a useful
source of legal information, the public will be more aware and
better empowered to make choices," Mr Ong noted.
The inspiration behind the portal is three lawyers from Ong Tay
& Partners - Mr Ong, Lim Seng Siew and Susan Tay Ting Lan.
