Update to Scheme to Allow Graduates with Second Class Lower Division Honours Degrees to Practise Law in Singapore

At present, holders of Second Class Lower Division Honours or equivalent law degrees from Scheduled Universities who were full-time internal candidates must fulfil a three year legal work requirement in order to qualify to practise law in Singapore. The Government has accepted the recommendation of the Committee to Develop the Singapore Legal Sector to reduce the requirement to two years.

New Procedures for Reporting Change of Address for Identity Card Holders

Under the National Registration Act, an Identity Card (NRIC) holder is required to report his change of residential address within 28 days. With effect from 1 April 2008, documentary evidence would be required if a NRIC holder wishes to change his address on the NRIC.
Changes to 30/70 Fund-Raising Rule to Facilitate Fund-Raising Efforts

The rule for computing the 30/70 fund-raising efficiency ratio, commonly known as the ''30/70 rule'', for charities and institutions of a public character (IPCs) will be revised. The revised rule will apply to fund-raising events for charities and IPCs whose financial year ends after 31 March 2008. These changes to the 30/70 rule will facilitate fund-raising efforts of charities and IPCs without compromising the principle that the costs of fund-raising should not exceed 30% of the total funds raised.

The United States, Abu Dhabi and Singapore have jointly released a set of Policy Principles for Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWFs) and countries receiving SWF investment. The Policy Principles are aimed at contributing to the work of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in developing voluntary best practices for SWFs and inward investment regimes in countries receiving investments, respectively.
