Asian Law Institute Inaugurated In Singapore

The Asian Law Institute (ASLI) was established on 21 March 2003 by a group of leading law schools in Asia . Its goal is to facilitate academic exchanges as well as research and teaching collaboration among colleagues from the twelve founding institutions.
The acronym "ASLI", which means "indigenous" in the Malay and Indonesian languages, is all the more appropriate as it represents the commitment of the founding institutions to establish a truly home-grown law institute in Asia.
The founding institutions of ASLI are:
* Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University ( Bangkok , Thailand )
* East China University of Politics and Law ( Shanghai , People's Republic of China )
* Faculty of Law, University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong, SAR, People's Republic of China )
* Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia ( Jakarta , Indonesia )
* Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University of Malaysia ( Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia )
* Faculty of Law, Kyushu University ( Fukuoka , Japan )
* National Law School of India University ( Bangalore , India )
* Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore ( Singapore )
* College of Law, National Taiwan University ( Taipei , Chinese Taipei )
* Peking University Law School, Peking University ( Beijing , People's Republic of China )
* College of Law, Seoul National University ( Seoul , Republic of Korea )
* College of Law, University of the Philippines ( Manila , the Philippines )
ASLI is physically situated at the Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore (NUS) which provides administrative and financial support for its activities.
