Subordinate Courts Launches iCourtLab
Posted on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 - 06:00 PM
The Subordinate Courts launched the iCourtLab to look into harnessing the latest innovations in technology to improve the court system.
Among the technology being considered are
(a) 3G applications to allow lawyers to contribute to a case while on the move. The court wants to use the technology to reduce costs and improve communication. The 3G system, which will be integrated with a video conferencing facility, is due to be in use by next year.
(b) Mobile Barcodes that enables users to find out information like court time and number by taking a photo on their mobile phone of the barcode, which has an Internet link. The user will scroll to the link in order to download the information required.
(c) FTR Link, which provides tools like a digital audio recording function, so audio recordings of the proceedings can be copied and shared. The system has an electronic pen, so that judges and court officers can link notes and take down court proceedings.
