Liberalisation of Air Services Between Singapore and Greece
Posted on Thursday, June 08, 2006 - 01:00 PM

Singapore and Greece have signed a new Air Services Agreement (ASA), marking a breakthrough in the 35-year history of bilateral aviation relations. The agreement was signed in Athens yesterday between Mr Michalis Liapis, Minister for Transport and Communications, and Singapore’s Minister of State for Transport, Mrs Lim Hwee Hua.

2 The new agreement allows airlines of both countries to operate a greater number of passenger flights between Greece and Singapore with no restrictions on aircraft type.

3 Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, Minister of State for Transport and Finance, who signed the agreement said, “Singapore is confident that this new Agreement will reap mutual benefits for both our countries. With this in mind, we look forward to further liberalisation between Singapore and Greece in time to come. This will give our airlines flexibility in deciding where and when to fly to, and will enable our carriers to compete even more effectively and efficiently with other foreign airlines. In an industry as dynamic and rapidly-changing as aviation, we must constantly plan for the future so as to adequately meet the challenges ahead.”
