AIMS Puts Up Recommendations For Consultation

The Advisory Council on the Impact of New Media on Society (AIMS) together with the launch of its new website (www.aims.org.sg) on 29th August 2008 has also released a consultation paper on liberalising the internet for feedback.

AIMS' key recommendations include:
a) The Government push further ahead with e-engagement with its citizens.
b) Liberalise Section 33 of the Films Act that prohibits the making, distributing and exhibiting of party political films.
c) Taking a holistic and coordinated approach to protecting minors in the new media.
d) Consider enacting legislation to confer limited immunity upon online content intermediaries.
